Our PRECIOUS ADDITIONS® Prenatal Program helps deliver healthy babies.

Most expectant mothers have questions and concerns about their pregnancy and delivery.  That’s why Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey developed PRECIOUS ADDITIONS.  This program provides helpful information during this exciting time.

The choices you make during the nine months of your pregnancy can give your baby a healthy start in life.  PRECIOUS ADDITIONS prepares you to make healthy choices for you and your baby.

Who can enroll?

Horizon HMO, Horizon POS, Horizon Direct Access, NJ DIRECT and certain National Account (PPO) members can enroll in the program.  After your first prenatal visit, you can enroll in the program by clicking here to enroll online.  You can also enroll by calling Member Services at the telephone number on the back of your Horizon BCBSNJ ID card. 
 
What does the PRECIOUS ADDITIONS program cost?

The program is free for eligible Horizon BCBSNJ members.

What can I expect?

Once enrolled, participants will receive:

• A pregnancy journal.
• Information about a $50 reimbursement for a prenatal parent class.
• The Children’s Health Journal.
• Literature explaining the importance of prenatal care.
• Postpartum care reminders.
• Information about childhood immunizations.

Does this program end once the baby is born?

The program doesn't end after your baby is born. We’ll send you a reminder to schedule a visit with your Ob/Gyn within six weeks after the delivery of your baby.  Visiting your physician during this time allows him/her to monitor and help you with any physical, emotional and social changes experienced after giving birth.  In addition, you will receive reminders about the importance of immunizing your child.

For busy moms on the go who want to learn more about staying healthy during pregnancy and offer their babies the best possible start in life, Text4baby provides timely health information to expectant mothers.  From early pregnancy through their babies’ first year, this FREE service sends important health tips for moms directly to their mobile phone.  Messages are timed to the mother’s stage of pregnancy and the baby’s age.
